પ્રાચીન સમયથી આપણા દેશમાં શિક્ષણનું મહત્વ રહ્યું છે. પ્રાચીન ભારતમાં શિક્ષણ માટેના મુખ્ય ત્રણ મહાકેન્દ્રો હતા. જેમાં તક્ષશિલા, નાલંદા અને વિક્રમશીલા વિશ્વવિદ્યાલયનો સમાવેશ થાય છે. આ ત્રણેય વિશ્વવિદ્યાલય વિશ્વભરમાં પ્રખ્યાત હતી.

તક્ષશિલા વિશ્વવિદ્યાલય : પહેલાં વિદ્યાર્થી અને પછી આચાર્યની ભૂમિકામાં જ્યાં રહ્યા ચાણક્ય

દેશની પ્રાચીન એવી તક્ષશિલા વિશ્વવિદ્યાલય પંજાબના રાવલપિંડી શહેરથી થોડે દૂર તક્ષશિલા નગરીમાં હતી. મૌર્યવંશના પ્રથમ સમ્રાટ ચંદ્રગુપ્ત મૌર્યના ગુરુ અને મુખ્યપ્રધાન એવા ચાણક્ય આ વિદ્યાલયમાં ભણ્યા પછી અધ્યાપક તરીકે પણ રહ્યા હતા. આ વિશ્વવિદ્યાલયના ઈતિહાસ પર નજર કરીએ તો ભગવાન શ્રીરામના ભાઈ ભરતના બે દીકરા તક્ષ અને પુષ્કરે તક્ષશિલા વિશ્વવિદ્યાલય બનાવડાવી હતી. ઈ.સ. પાંચસો વર્ષ પૂર્વેથી માંડીને છેક છઠ્ઠી સદી સુધી તક્ષશિલાની ખ્યાતિ હતી. આખી દુનિયાના ૧૦,૦૦૦ કરતાં પણ વધુ વિદ્યાર્થીઓ અહીં ભણવા માટે આવતા હતા. દુ:ખની વાત એ છે કે પછીથી વિદેશી આક્રમણકારીઓએ આ વિશ્વવિદ્યાલયનો નાશ કરી દીધો.

નાલંદા વિશ્વવિદ્યાલય : વિશ્વભરને આપી જ્ઞાનની ભેટ

બિહારમાં રાજગીર પાસે ઈ.સ. પૂર્વે ચોથી સદીમાં સ્થપાયેલી નાલંદા વિદ્યાપીઠ પ્રાચીન ભારતની શિક્ષણ ક્ષેત્રે મેળવેલી મહાન સિદ્ધિ છે. એ સમયે નાલંદા શિક્ષણ મેળવવા માટેનું અત્યંત પ્રસિદ્ધ સ્થળ હતું. અહીં પણ દેશ-વિદેશથી વિદ્યાર્થીઓ ભણવા આવતા. આ વિશ્વવિદ્યાલયે જ્ઞાન, સાહિત્ય, કલા, શિલ્પ, વિજ્ઞાન, સભ્યતા ને સંસ્કૃતિની આખા વિશ્વને ભેટ આપી. કહેવાતું કે નાલંદામાં ભણ્યા વિના શિક્ષા અધૂરી જ ગણાતી. એવું પણ કહેવાય છે કે ભગવાન બુદ્ધ પૂર્વ જન્મમાં અહીં બોધિસત્વ રૂપે જન્મ્યા હતા.

વળી, બૌદ્ધ સાહિત્યમાં એવો ઉલ્લેખ પણ છે કે નાલંદા વિસ્તારને પાંચસો જેટલા શેઠે ભેગા મળી એક કરોડ સોનામહોરમાં ખરીદીને ભગવાન બૌદ્ધને ભેટ આપ્યો હતો. મહારાજ શકાદિત્ય-ગુપ્તવંશીય સમ્રાટ કુમાર ગુપ્તે આ સ્થળને વિશ્વવિદ્યાલય રૂપે વિકસાવ્યું. ત્યાર પછી તેમનાં ઉત્તરાધિકારી અને અન્ય રાજાઓએ વિશ્વવિદ્યાલયના ભવનનું નિર્માણ કરાવ્યું. અહીં દેશના વિદ્યાર્થીઓ સિવાય ચીન, તિબેટ, મોંગોલિયા દેશના વિદ્યાર્થીઓ પણ શિક્ષણ મેળવવા આવતા. અહીંના આચાર્ય તેમનાં જ્ઞાન અને વિદ્યા માટે સમગ્ર સંસારમાં પ્રખ્યાત હતા. આ વિશ્વવિદ્યાલયના મુખ્ય ત્રણ ભવન હતા- રત્નસાગર, રત્નોદધિ અને રત્નરંજક. દુશ્મનોના આક્રમણને કારણે નાલંદા ધ્વંશ થઈ અને જ્ઞાનનો ભંડાર આપણે ખોઈ બેઠા.

વિક્રમશીલા વિશ્વવિદ્યાલય: બારમી સદી સુધી પોતાના જ્ઞાન થકી વિશ્વને પ્રજજવલિત રાખ્યું

બિહાર રાજ્યના ભાગલપુર જિલ્લામાં બંગાળના પાલવંશી રાજા ધર્મરાજે આઠમી-નવમી સદીમાં વિક્રમશિલા વિદ્યાલયની સ્થાપના કરી હતી. એ સમયે ધર્મરાજે વિખ્યાત દસ આચાર્યની નિમણુંક કરી હતી. પછી તો એ સંખ્યા વધતી ગઈ. આ વિશ્વવિદ્યાલયના દરેક પ્રવેશદ્વાર પર એક-એક પ્રવેશિકા પરીક્ષાગૃહ હતો.

આ બધા જ દ્વાર પર એક એક મહાન વિદ્વાન હતા. પ્રવેશ પરીક્ષામાં પાસ થનારા વિદ્યાર્થીને જ અહીં પ્રવેશ મળતો. તિબેટીયન વિદ્યાર્થીઓની સંખ્યા અહીં સૌથી વધુ હતી. આશરે ૧૧૯૩ના વર્ષમાં પાલવંશી રાજાઓના અધ:પતનની સાથોસાથ આ વિશ્વવિદ્યાલય પણ હંમેશ માટે અંધકારમાં ગરકાવ થઈ ગઈ. દુશ્મનોએ આ વિશ્વવિદ્યાલયને લૂંટીને હંમેશાં માટે નષ્ટ કરી દીધી. ભારતીય સભ્યતા-સંસ્કૃતિનો એટલે હદે નાશ કર્યો કે તેનો પુન:ઉદ્ધાર થઇ શક્યો નહીં.

ઈન્ટરનેશનલ સ્પેસ સ્ટેશન

ઈન્ટરનેશનલ સ્પેસ સ્ટેશનનું ટૂંકું નામ છે - આઈએસએસ. અવકાશયાત્રીઓ અને વિજ્ઞાનીઓ આઈએસએસની મદદથી અંતરીક્ષમાં રહીને અવકાશને લગતાં સંશોધનો કરતા હોય છે. ઇન્ટરનેશનલ સ્પેસ સ્ટેશન પૃથ્વીથી ૩૯૦ કિમીની ઊંચાઈ પર આવેલું છે. એસ્ટ્રોનટ્સ સ્પેસ શટલની મદદથી ત્યાં પહોંચે છે અને સંશોધનો કરે છે. હાલમાં આઈએસએસ પર અવકાશમાં જીવન શક્ય છે કે નહીં, તેનું સંશોધન ચાલી રહ્યું છે. ૧૯૯૮માં અમેરિકા અને રશિયા દ્વારા સંયુક્ત રીતે આ અવકાશી પ્રયોગશાળાને તરતી મૂકવામાં આવી હતી. આ પ્રયોગશાળાનું વજન ૪૫૦,૦૦૦ કિગ્રા છે. તેની લંબાઈ ૫.૧ મીટર અને પહોળાઈ ૧૦૯ મીટર છે. અંતરીક્ષમાં સતત ગતિશીલ એવું આ ઇન્ટરનેશનલ સ્પેસ સેન્ટર અત્યાર સુધીમાં પૃથ્વીની ફરતે ૭૪,૫૯૦ ચક્કર કાપી ચૂક્યું છે.  

How to use Internet Connection Sharing

To use Internet Connection Sharing to share your Internet connection, the host computer must have one network adapter that is configured to connect to the internal network, and one network adapter or modem that is configured to connect to the Internet.

On the host computer

On the host computer, follow these steps to share the Internet connection:

1. Log on to the host computer as Administrator or as Owner.
2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
3. Click Network and Internet Connections.
4. Click Network Connections.
5. Right-click the connection that you use to connect to the Internet. For example, if you connect to the Internet by using a modem, right-click the connection that you want under Dial-up.
6. Click Properties.
7. Click the Advanced tab.
8. Under Internet Connection Sharing, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box.
9. If you are sharing a dial-up Internet connection, select the Establish a dial-up connection whenever a computer on my network attempts to access the Internet check box if you want to permit your computer to automatically connect to the Internet.
10. Click OK. You receive the following message:
    When Internet Connection Sharing is enabled, your LAN adapter will be set to use IP
    address 192.168.0.1. Your computer may lose connectivity with other computers on
    your network. If these other computers have static IP addresses, it is a good idea to set them
    to obtain their IP addresses automatically. Are you sure you want to enable Internet

How to Enable Internet Connection Firewall in Windows XP

Microsoft Windows XP provides Internet security in the form of a firewall, known as the Internet Connection Firewall (ICF). This feature is designed for home and small business use and provides protection for computers directly connected to the Internet. ICF is available for local area network (LAN) or dial–up connections. It also prevents scanning of ports and resources (file and printer shares) from external sources.

How to Enable Internet Connection Firewall

The Internet Connection Firewall is useful when you want to protect a dial–up connection when dialing directly into an Internet service provider (ISP), or to protect a LAN connection that is connected to an asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) or cable modem. You can also enable the ICF on the Internet connection of an ICS host computer to provide protection for the ICS host computer.

To enable ICF using the Network Setup Wizard

1. Run the Network Setup Wizard. To access this wizard, point to Control Panel, double–click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Setup or change your home or small office network.
2. The ICF is enabled when you choose a configuration in the wizard that indicates that your computer is connected directly to the Internet.

To configure ICF manually for a connection

1. In Control Panel, double–click Networking and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.
2. Right–click the connection on which you would like to enable ICF, and then click Properties.
3. On the Advanced tab, check the option to Protect my computer and network....
   
4. If you want to enable the use of some applications and services through the firewall, you need to enable them by clicking the Settings button, and then selecting the programs, protocols, and services to be enabled for the ICF configuration.

આયુર્વેદ

ખજૂર

આયુર્વેદના મર્હિષ ચરકે ખજૂરને ‘બૃહણ’ કહ્યો છે અને આ શબ્દ સમજવા જેવો છે. બૃંહણ એટલે શરીર “હૃષ્ટપુષ્ટ” કરનાર. ખજૂરનો બીજો એક ગુણ છે. “વૃષ્ય”. આ વૃષ્યનો અર્થ થાય કામશક્તિ- મૈથુનશક્તિ વધારનાર, મર્હિષ સુશ્રુતે તેને “હૃદ્ય” પણ કહ્યો છે. હૃદ્ય એટલે હૃદયને હિતાવહ, આમ ખજૂર પૌષ્ટિક, કામશક્તિ વધારનાર અને હૃદયને હિતકારી છે. નિયમિત રોજ સવારે સાત-આઠ પેશી કાળી ખજૂર ખૂબ ચાવીને ખાવો. ઉપર ગરમ દૂધ પીવું, વજન વધારવા, કામશક્તિ સક્રિય કરવા આ ઉપચાર કરવો. 

આકડો

આચાર્ય સુશ્રુતે દમ-શ્વાસ રોગ માટે બતાવેલો એક ઉપચાર પ્રયોગ આ પ્રમાણે છે. આકડાનાં કૂમળાં પાનના રસમાં જવ પલાળીને સૂકવી લેવા. ચાર-પાંચ વખત આ રીતે પલાળીને સૂકવેલા જવને શેકી ધાણી બનાવવી આ ધાણી સવાર-સાંજ ત્રણ ચમચી ખાવાથી દમ મટે છે. આકડાનાં મૂળનો ધુમાડો સૂંઘવાથી આધાશીશી- માઇગ્રેન મટી જાય છે. એક પતાસા પર આકડાનાં દૂધનાં બે ટીપાં પાડી ૩થી ૪ દિવસ રોજ સવારે આપવાથી દમ શ્વાસમાં તથા કફના રોગોમાં ખૂબ ફાયદો થાય છે

કાળીજીરી

ઉધરસ, શરદી અને કફની ફરિયાદ રહેતી હોય એવા બાળકોને ઉંમર પ્રમાણે બેથી પાંચ ચોખા ભાર કાળીજીરીનું ચૂર્ણ એક ચમચી મધ સાથે મિશ્ર કરી સવારે અને રાત્રે ચટાડવું. આ મિશ્રણથી કફ પાકીને છૂટવા લાગે છે. જો કફની સાથે તાવ હોય તો પણ મટે છે. મોટા બાળકો અને કિશોરોને એકથી બે ગ્રામ જેટલું આ ચૂર્ણ મધ સાથે મિશ્ર કરી આપી શકાય. પ્રસૂતા સ્ત્રીને કાળીજીરી આપવાથી ઘણો લાભ થાય છે. તેનાથી ધાવણ વધે છે અને તે પચવામાં હલકું અને ચોખ્ખું થાય છે. આ ધાવણથી નવજાત બાળકને કફ અને તાવમાં ફાયદો થાય છે.

આધુનિક મતે જાયફળ સુગંધિત, દીપન, વાતહર ઉત્તેજક માદક, વેદના મટાડનાર, આક્ષેપ નિવારક, પૌષ્ટિક અને વાજીકર છે. હોજરી માટે ઉત્તેજક હોવાથી પાચક રસ વધારે છે. જાયફળને પત્થર પર ઘસી તેનો કપાળ પર લેપ કરવાથી માથાનો દુખાવો મટી જાય છે. ગરમ દૂધમાં સાકર અને ચણાના દાણા જેટલો જાયફળનો પાઉડર નાંખી પીવાથી ઊંઘ સરસ આવે છે. ગાયના દૂધમાં જાયફળ ઘસીને  ચોખાના ધોવરામણ સાથે લેવાથી ઊલટી, હેડકી, ઊબકા મટે છે. જાયફળ ગાયના દૂધમાં ઘસીને પીવાથી અજીર્ણ, અપચો મટે છે. જાયફળ ઘસીને લગાડવાથી ખીલ મટે છે.

ર્છિદરિપુ
આયુર્વેદના એક ઔષધનું નામ છે ‘ર્છિદરિપુ’. ર્છિદ એટલે ઊલટી અને રિપુ એટલે દુશ્મન. આમ ર્છિદરિપુ એટલે ઊલટીનું દુશ્મન આ ર્છિદરિપુને આપણે ગુજરાતીમાં ‘કપૂર કાચલી’ કહીએ છીએ. કપૂર કાચલી એ ખરેખર ઊલટીનું ઉત્તમ ઔષધ છે. મર્હિષ ચરકે હેડકી, દમ અને ઊલટીનો નાશ કરનારા ઔષધોમાં કપૂર કાચલીનો સમાવેશ કરેલો છે. કપૂર કાચલીનું ચારથી પાંચ ગ્રામ ચૂર્ણ એક ગ્લાસ પાણીમાં નાંખી એક કલાક પછી ગાળી લેવું. આ પાણી થોડી થોડી વારે પીવાથી ઉગ્ર ઊલટીઓ મટે છે. અને દમમાં તથા કફના રોગોમાં ફાયદો થાય છે

નાગલા દૂધેલી

આ ઔષધના છોડ ચોમાસામાં સર્વત્ર ઊગી નીકળે છે. અને બારેમાસ આ વનસ્પતિ મળી શકે છે. આ નાગલા દૂધેલી દમ-શ્વાસમાં ઉપયોગી ઔષધ છે. કેટલાક દર્દીઓને તો ચમત્કાર જેવો ફાયદો કરે છે. તેનાં પાંચથી સાત પાનનો રસ કાઢી, એટલા જ મધ સાથે મેળવી સવાર-સાંજ લેવાથી શ્વાસનળીઓ ખૂલે છે અને કફ છૂટો પડે છે અને દમમાં રાહત થાય છે. બીજુ આ વનસ્પતિનો રસ લગાડવાથી દાદર મટી જાય છે. આ છોડ એક ફૂટ જેટલો ઊંચો થાય છે. પાન લાંબા લંબગોળ ટેરવી અણીવાળા, સપાટી પર લીલા નીચેથી લાલ હોય છે.

Adding an Application to the Context Menu of Every Folder

2. Add a key named "NameOfApplication" (without quotes) whether it be Notepad, Calculator,

3. Give it a default value of "NameOfApplication" This key can be named how you would like it to

appear on the context menu.

4. Placing a '&' symbol in front of a character will allow you to use that character on the keyboard.

(Characters that are underlined)

6. Add a key command

7. Give it a default value of the application you want to run. You must include the full path and file name.

8. The context menu of any folder should now include a command to open your application.

Adding Items to the Context Menu of the Start Button

1. HKey_Classes_Root / Directory / Shell

2. Create a new key in the 'Shell' folder

3. Type in a name for the key, does not matter what you call it

4. Modify the data for 'Default' and give it a name of whatever you would like to appear on the

context menu.

5. Create another new key named "Command" (without the quotes) inside of the key you just

Automatically Refresh Explorer; Explorer Refresh Rate

Explorer doesn't always automatically refresh it's contents, you can modify the refresh rate of Explorer.

When you create a mailbox in Exchange for e-mail, you specify the location where you want your

it makes to recent documents in the Recycle Bin, thus deleting them.

Disabling My Computer from the Desktop

You may want to export this section if you wish to restore it later.

Disabling the Right-Click on the Start Button

This modification is good for administration of multiple users. After completing this modification,
right-clicking the Start button will do nothing. This also disables use of the Windows key in
conjunction with the E (Explorer) and F (Find) keys on some newer keyboards. You may want to
export these two sections if you wish to restore them later.

This modification will enable the context menu with the option to open the file with Notepad.

Fixing a Corrupt Registry
If your registry has become corrupted, and re-installing Windows over your existing installation
does not fix the problem,
there is a hidden, read-only, system file on the root of your boot drive called SYSTEM.1ST.
This is the initial system registry created when you first installed Windows. To use this file:
1. In DOS, go to your Windows directory.
2. Strip the attributes of your current SYSTEM.DAT with the following syntax: ATTRIB -r -s -h
SYSTEM.DAT
3. Copy C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.DAT to SYSTEM.BAD as a backup
4. Switch down to the root directory of the drive Windows is installed on.
5. Strip the attributes of SYSTEM.1ST with the following syntax: ATTRIB -r -s -h SYSTEM.1ST
6. Copy SYSTEM.1ST to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.DAT
This is a last minute fix for the Registry. It will not restore any information about your 32-bit apps
thus you will need to reinstall them or any other programs that modified your system registry. 16-bit
apps do not modify the registry so, those should be able to remain in place. To avoid this problem,
you need to backup your registry on a regular basis!

The default cache size for icons is set at 512, so when the number of icons exceeds this number, it

If you delete an installed program and its files, it may or may not remain in the 'Add/Remove

To speed up your windows or to increase RAM virtually,
Right click on My Computer

>> Properties
>> Advanced
>> Performance - Settings
>> Advanced
>> Virtual Memory - Change

Keep the initial size same as recommended and maximum size double of it then restart your system.
It will improve speed of windows and you can play some games which require higher RAM.
